How to choose
Match the register of the role, not your taste. Modern Corporate, Minimal Compact and Accent Underline suit business, operations and most corporate roles. Technical Minimal and Timeline Accent read well for engineering, data and project work. Classic Executive, Elegant Serif and Ivy League carry the formal tone senior, legal, finance and academic applications expect. Bold Header and Highlight Blocks add visual structure for consulting, product and client-facing roles; Airy Minimal and Slate Neutral stay quiet for design, marketing and conservative industries.
If you are unsure, start with Modern Corporate. The choice is reversible: write the content once, then try three looks in the builder and export the one that reads best at arm's length.
Why every template here is ATS-safe
- Single column. Parsers read top to bottom; two-column layouts can be read out of order or lose a column entirely.
- Real, selectable text. The PDF export is text, not a picture of text, so every word can be extracted and searched.
- Standard section headings. Experience, Education, Skills — the labels applicant tracking systems are trained to recognize.
- No tables, text boxes, icons or photos. The elements most often responsible for scrambled or missing data.
- Consistent typography. One or two proven fonts per template, sized for a page — see our resume fonts guide.
Styling never changes the structure. Switching templates changes fonts, rules and accents; the order and text of your sections stay the same, so the parsed result is identical whichever look you export. Run the finished PDF through the free ATS checker if you want to see the extracted text for yourself.
A4 or US Letter
The builder's Design & Layout section has a page-size switch. US Letter (8.5 × 11 in) is the convention in the United States and Canada; A4 is standard almost everywhere else. Choose before you export so the page count and margins are right for the reader — our US resume format guide covers the other differences.
